Baby plays with treasure basket

They say parenting doesn’t come with a handbook. But in reality, it does - dozens of them in fact! And with so many parenting books giving different advice, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

Our Early Years team plays a vital role in supporting parents. As well as providing childcare for the Comfort Zone, the team hosts parent and baby groups and a creche at Bluebell Place.

Play is an important part of a baby’s development, but if you’re an exhausted parent, it can be hard to muster the energy for it. Our Early Years team help parents discover how easy it can be to entertain their little ones. For example, our ‘treasure baskets’ are filled with simple, everyday items - shells, spoons and shaving brushes – which babies find fascinating. Here’s some inspiration for making your own treasure basket.

As well as sharing ideas around play, someone from the team is always on hand to chat informally about big parenting challenges like sleeping and feeding. If parents need more structured support, they can arrange a phone call with a member of the team.

We never judge parents and we never tell them what to do. Instead, we share a range of tried and tested approaches that they may like to try.
